Something happened today that made me really angry.
My boyfriend and I were going to Target, and I saw a Sally Beauty Supply that I had never been to before. I usually go to a different Sallys. I told him that I wanted to go in and look around, so we did. I'm the kind of person who can probably walk around a beauty store like Sallys or Sephora for hours. I never get tired of checking out the products. I'm also a very indecisive person, so I spend a lot of time thinking about whether I should buy things or not.
The woman working there asked me three times if I needed any help. Each time I said to her, "No thank you, I'm not looking for anything in particular. Just browsing." We were in the store for around 10-15 minutes when she comes up to me and says, "Look, if you don't need my help with anything I'm gonna have to ask you to leave. You've been walking around the store for a while, and it's suspicious of burglary."
At first I thought she was joking, but she wasn't. I couldn't believe that she was accusing my boyfriend and I of looking like thieves. I didn't do anything wrong or weird while walking around. I was just looking at the products like I usually do in any other store. Just because I wasn't in and out of the store in a minute makes me look like a thief? Not needing her assistance means I have intentions of stealing? I was SO angry. I put the product I was holding back on the shelf and told my boyfriend that we were leaving. I was planning on buying something, but I definitely changed my mind. I wasn't about the give that store my money.
Now that I think about it, I should have said something to her. I should have told her how rude she was. That it was wrong for her to accuse us of looking like thieves when we didn't do anything wrong. But at the time, I was so angry and shocked that all I wanted to do was leave and not deal with her. I have NEVER been accused of looking suspicious. I was so upset that I started crying afterwards in the car.
This happened at the Sally Beauty Supply on Maryland Parkway in Las Vegas. I definitely won't be going back there and I wouldn't recommend anyone else go either :(

I'm sorry to hear about your awful experience. That was wrong of the sales associate. I really think you should of said something or complained to the manager, but I understand what you mean by not wanting to deal with it at the time. :(
ReplyDeleteCamille: Yeah, looking back I wish I would've said something! I was just so shocked at the moment.
ReplyDeleteWow, this was rude! How can anyone accuse someone else of being a thief if they are just looking around? I think you should probably contact the manager of this store and complain. This sales person definitely needs to be trained on customer service issues.
ReplyDeletewow what a witch!!! u should have complained about her!!
ReplyDeleteChrissy: My boyfriend said her tag said "assistant manager." Who knows how she got that position :\
ReplyDeleteSofee: i know, i really should have. i think she was the only employee in the store at the time though.
you're not the only having bad experiences at sally's. the other day i was there with my friends, this lady came up to us and asked if we were eighteen because if we weren't she would've kicked us out. thing is, the whole we were there the lady kept following us around like we were going to steal something. this one time i was looking at nail polish and accidently put it back in the wrong place, the same lady gave me an attitude when she fixed the polishes. I'm beginning to not like the workers there.
ReplyDeletewhatta beeotch! you should go back into the store get her name and call corporate and complain! and make a big deal out of it.
ReplyDeleteDianna: oh that's not good :( while some sallys employees are nice, i've encountered quite a few that are rude.
ReplyDeleteAlyssa: totally. i was thinking about doing that..
I thought they just followed me around. They always make me feel so uncomfortable(both stores near me) that I only go in there when I really want something. I'm very indecisive also and can look at the same product for ages while trying to make up my mind.
ReplyDeletesparklingpinkgorilla: yeah, the workers there aren't exactly my favorite. especially after this incident :\
ReplyDeleteDon't be too hard on her. I used to work at Sally. Managers get on our asses when items get stolen, especially if the store has a history of high theft. Assistant managers and managers get the worse treatment. The district managers can get nit picky with our daily inventory count and if something turns out missing, the management gets the lashing, so we're trained to be as courteous and offer assistance as often as we can, this lets the customer know that we're around and we have an eye on you. In her case, she was probably having one of those REALLY bad days. I've had them working at Sally. She shouldn't have done that, but I will be completely honest that she probably plain doesn't like younger peoples. I've worked with managers like that, they always think that all youngens are out to steal makeup or hair.
ReplyDeleteI hope it doesn't deter you from all Sallys. They're not all bad, if it happens again, don't be afraid to approach a manager. Just get the phone number and ask for the manager and complain. I wouldn't go as far as calling customer service. It takes forever for the message to get to the store, and by then, the employee has probably quit or transferred somewhere else. You really can't believe how many employees have asked for transfers in their first 2 months of working.
Louzee: i understand what you're saying, but i don't think i was being too hard on her. i get that employees have bad days, but that doesn't justify the fact that she told me to LEAVE the store for looking suspicious. i was at the store in the morning, after it had just opened. i doubt she was having one of those bad days since it had just begun. i still go to sallys, just a different location where the employees are nicer.
